After deciding to self-publish her first book and convincing her husband that self- publishing was a good idea, together they established WLW Publishing.  Linda soon discovered that her job was only half done.  Now that she had a product, a book, the challenge was how to sell it?  “How do I get people to buy it?  How do I get it from my living room to the market place?  How do I make a profit?”

Linda soon discovered that what she needed to do was SELL her book to everyone she came in contact with.  For the most part this was family and friends who were excited about the book.  Then, it was business associates and association members.  It became evident to Linda that if she were going to make a profit she would have to expand her sphere of influence.  As a professional speaker and trainer she had a built-in audience.  But, even this proved not enough of a market to make her book selling a success.  By now, her husband was wondering when some of the dollars spent to self-publish were going to start coming in instead of going out.

When Linda solicited the advice of other authors about marketing and selling their books their suggestions were to hire a publicist or a pr firm.  Linda knew this was out of the question for her.  So with book in hand, she decided to set up a marketing plan for getting it SOLD.  As a result, in less than 18 months Linda sold over 40,000 copies of her self-published book, Loving Yourself First A Woman’s Guide To Personal Power.  Loving Yourself First is a big hit all across the country, as well as in Canada, England and Africa.  Articles have appeared in national publications including the Los Angeles Times, Amarillo Globe, The Atlanta Voice, San Diego Voice and View Point, Essence Magazine, Emerge Magazine, Turning Point Magazine, Black Meeting and Tourism, California Black Woman’s Magazine, Minority Business Success Magazine and the Los Angeles Sentinel.  Linda has appeared on Making It—Minority Success Stories, Marilyn Kagen, Montel Williams, The Talking Connection, Today’s Black Woman and over 80 radio talk shows across the country.  Loving Yourself First is a favorite with bookstores and book clubs alike.
